The 2022 BLG 5K: Virtual Edition

Virtual Runners from all over joined in by #runningonhope

The Brave Like Gabe 5K started 5 years ago when Gabe Grunewald decided to do something about the lack of rare cancer research funding and attention. Each year, registrants around the world to log miles from home in support of Gabe Grunewald’s mission. This year, more than 1500 runners worldwide joined the BLG 5K. Some ran individually, and some gathered together for a group run to celebrate Gabe. Either way, our common mission was achieved. And we reached a new level of magic when TWELVE sites around the U.S. hosted a Virtual-But-Together group run.

Although Gabe passed away in June 2019 from Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC), her legacy continues to inspire people to keep #runningonhope. Aligned with a common mission, runners laced up their shoes to run a 5K in an effort to find better, more effective treatments for ACC and other types of rare cancers.

This year, as always, the proceeds from the BLG 5K will support a donation of $70,000 to our partners at the Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma Research Foundation, the superheroes funding critical research on Gabe’s specific type of cancer.
